Fire Goals: Partners in Fire dishes on why we are pursuing FIRE

I realized over the course of the past few weeks (mostly when writing about how having kids volition touch my Fire goals) that I never actually wrote a post most my Burn goals.
Certain, I've written near financial independence. We've had posts on what Burn down is and my path to Fire. Just I never wrote nearly the why. I never explained what my Fire goals are, or why obtaining financial independence is and then important to me. Peradventure I should explicate information technology!
My Fire Goals
The main reason why I am pursuing financial independence is because I want to live my life on my own terms. I don't desire to exist tied to a job in club to survive. I don't desire to waste xl hours every week at a job that I hate. It'due south not that I even detest my job though, I just don't want to accept to be there. I don't want to be required to get. Since I am required to go, it's like they own me. And I don't want to exist owned by anyone. Does that make sense? I'm trying to purchase my own time back.
What will I do?
I'1000 really focused on the Retired Early on part of Fire. Working at my job for twenty more than years sounds miserable! And so, what will I exercise if I don't take to piece of work forty hours a calendar week? I'll live!! There are and then many things that I want to practice and come across, but unfortunately working total time prevents me from doing near of them.
Travel
First and foremost, I want to see the world. I've already traveled quite extensively, but as I'yard tied to my task all my traveling has been in short i to two-week vacations. That'due south non really enough fourth dimension to get to know a place. I desire to slow travel through Asia, Europe, and Due south America and experience the dissimilar cultures. I as well want to travel through the United States, and see all of the national parks that this country has to offer.
Who says I tin't work while having these adventures! I would beloved to teach English in Cambodia or Vietnam while deadening traveling the continent. Work Camping sounds like an awesome manner to visit the national parks! I could work remotely, monetize the blog, or practise consulting work. The possibilities for hustling while I'm living on my own terms are countless.
Back to School
Another major thing I'd honey to do when I accomplish fiscal independence is go back to schoolhouse to study Anthropology. I'yard fascinated by other cultures (hence my desire to travel and experience them!) and I'thousand extremely captivated by ancient cultures. I want to learn everything I can almost early cultures, and peradventure fifty-fifty report the similarities between them. The entire concept mesmerizes me. At that place is a program in Republic of estonia (taught in English language!) where students written report legends and folklore from various cultures, learning most the similarities between them and relating those similarities to the human being condition. Side Projects!
Information technology's no secret that I have numerous side projects, and non nearly enough fourth dimension to pursue them all. Did you know that I'm trying to write a volume? Or that I'm an artist, have a travel blog, and want try streaming video games with Twitch? This is just a small sampling of the many side projects that I want to work on, but unfortunately, I don't take time for most of them. The majority of my time is dedicated to my total-time job, my young man, and this blog. Afterward that I really don't take a lot of time for anything else. I would dear to have time to play my video games and get affiliated with Twitch! Streaming is my boyfriend'due south number 1 side project, so I do become to play with him on occasion and information technology's loads of fun. I'd love to accept my own account, only it takes so much time, which is something that I don't have at the moment.
Extended Adventures
Some adventures have longer than the 2 weeks of holiday time I get each year. I desire to spend three months studying Tai Chi in Mainland china, three months studying yoga in Republic of india, and a summer reading tarot cards with a Renaissance Faire (I know, I have weird dreams). These things are just not possible to do with a full-time chore.
Anything Else
Life is and then full of possibilities. There are and then many things to see and practice on this planet and merely a limited amount of time in which to do them. Tomorrow I might recollect of another crazy random adventure to add to my bucket listing. Who knows? But that's the unabridged bespeak of pursuing financial freedom. I want to have the ability.
